About the Company

Founded in 1969, ROKO Construction Limited is a leading construction and civil engineering company in Uganda, recognized for its commitment to quality, innovation, and professional excellence.

The Company undertakes major building and infrastructure projects across Uganda and the region and is seeking to recruit a competent and experienced Legal Manager to strengthen its governance and compliance function.

Purpose of the Position

To provide legal leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, manage contractual and corporate risks, and safeguard the legal interests of ROKO Construction Limited.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents to ensure alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.

• Provide sound legal advice to management and internal departments on operational, commercial, employment, and regulatory matters.

• Identify, evaluate, and manage legal, compliance, and operational risks affecting the company.

• Oversee and coordinate litigation and dispute resolution processes, including managing external counsel.

• Ensure full compliance with applicable laws, regulatory frameworks, industry standards, and governance requirements.

• Support corporate governance processes, including Board documentation, statutory filings, and maintenance of company registers.

• Liaise with government institutions, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders on legal and compliance matters.

• Develop and deliver training programs to enhance compliance awareness and ethical business conduct among staff.

• Maintain an up-to-date legal records management and reporting system.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized institution.

• Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice (LDC).

• Active Practicing Certificate issued by the Uganda Law Society.

• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law. Experience in construction, infrastructure, or real estate law is an added advantage.

• Demonstrated experience in contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, and litigation management.

• High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.

• Strong organizational, leadership, and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
